YOG Qualifying Race

So yesterday evening was the individual race to determine which countries would earn spots for the youth olympic games in Singapore. For Canada it was also the qualifying race, the first Canadian to cross the line would be the athlete selected to represent Canada.

The Canadian girls dominated the swim, they were all in the first group out of the water. Christine came off the bike in the lead by herself, followed by the lead pack of girls. This lead pack now contained 3 of the Canadian girls. The first Canadian girl to finish was Christine in 3rd followed by Alison in 4th, Dominika in 5th, Maghalie in 12th, Hillary in 13th, and Amelie in 22nd. Congrats to the girls!!

In the guys race, Brook was the first to exit the water, then Marc, Riley, Charles and then Unger. Brook made the lead pack, Marc was in the second pack, Riley was in the third pack, and Charles and Unger were in the 4th pack. The first pack gained a little bit of time during the race, and the second and third came pretty close together. At the end of the run it was Brook who was the first Canadian in 8th place, Marc was 18, Riley was 21, Charles was 35, and Unger in 36.
